According to BBC Sport, Bobcats “centre” (love their spelling) Byron Mullens will not play in the 2012 summer Olympics due to an injured toe.

Mullens was added to the the team’s roster after receiving a Great Britain passport through his Mother, who was born in Middlesex.

Mullens was fighting for the team’s single “naturalized player spot” with Nate Reinking, 38. Something tells me if Mullens was healthy, he probably would’ve gotten the spot.

Great Britain could attain Ben Gordon from the Detroit Pistons if he decides to go that route, and according to the BBC Sport story, “He is seen by many as the missing link for the GB side because he plays at guard, a position where GB are relatively weak.”

The Country whose empire was once so large that the sun famously never set on it will play Nigeria Friday night in Houston.
