Cleveland wants Beal and it's pretty common knowledge that if he falls to them they're taking him. That's why they want to make a trade with Charlotte.

So, if the Cavs take Beal, that leaves Washington with MKG, Robinson or Barnes. The Wizard's top two is Beal and MKG according to the Washington post.

That leaves Barnes OR Robinson for Charlotte (Robinson would be an absolute steal even at 4).

You are right, though. The separation between #2 and #4 might be two slots, but the difference between having picks #2 and #31 or having #4, #24, (maybe #31), #33, and #34 is huge. Even if Charlotte can't guarantee their guy will be there at four, they should still make that trade, because they need help everywhere and the only way to get that help is through draft picks and free agency.

Whoever gets drafted 2 through 4 is going to end up being a good starting NBA player. Maybe not great, but Robinson, Beal, MKG and Barnes will all be, at least, good players.

If the Bobcats trade down to #4, Barnes will not be there at #4. Either Cleveland or Washington will draft him to play with Irving or Wall, respectively, because people incorrectly "ASSUME" that Barnes can only reach his potential if he's alongside a very good point guard.

If they want to guarantee they get Barnes, they may as well draft him at #2 instead of ONLY TWO PICKS LATER.

Why should Beal, Robinson, or Gilchrist have to go before Barnes? Just because the media say they should?

If you want a player, and you have the #2 pick, you may as well take that player at #2, instead of HOPING they're there ONLY TWO PICKS LATER.

Did I mention that the separation between #2 & #4 is only two spots?

If the Bobcats want Barnes, and can guarantee that he will be there at #4, I would do that trade, but if you can't guarantee it, then I wouldn't.
