Part 2: The Charlotte Bobcats’ starting lineup for the 2013 season will be…

Ramon Sessions, Ben Gordon, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bismayck Byombo, and Brendan Haywood. I think the only starting position up for grabs is the power forward position. However, right now this my projected starting lineup. On paper, this is a major improvement to last year’s team. MJ has two players in Gordon and Kidd-Gilchrist who can potentially average 20 points per game. I expect MKG to average 15 pts., 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals a game.

In his first summer league game, MKG showed his versatility. He defended players ranging from the point guard to the power forward for the Sacramento Kings. Prior to the 2012 NBA Draft, I compared MKG to being more Shawn Marion than Gerald Wallace. Shawn Marion is one of the best rebounders and low-post defenders in the NBA and he measures at 6’7” 230 pounds. MKG possesses the same stature as “the Matrix.” I guess we can call MKG “the Matrix: Reloaded.” In fact, that’s my nickname for MKG; my brother, get your own!

It would be poor to have Ben Gordon starting over Gerald Henderson. Hendo was the best player on the team this year, and he has all the tools (except a 3-pointer which he worked on this offseason) to be an all-star. Ben Gordon doesn’t defend as well as Henderson, and he’s more of a sixth man than a starting SG. Haywood might start out of necessity, but I doubt he’ll get more than 20-25 MPG. I’m expecting Tyrus Thomas to step up, thus being able to move Biyombo into C, and being able to experiment with Mullens at the 4.
