Reggie Williams: The Charlotte Bobcats Forgotten Man?

Even after the Charlotte Bobcats traded away Corey Maggette and drafted Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeffrey Taylor, they had a small forward. His name, Reggie Williams. His resume?

Over his three-year career, Williams has scored 10 points, dished out almost two assists and grabbed three rebounds in just 23 minutes per game.

Stretch those numbers out into the “per 36 minutes” stat and they turn into 15.7 points, almost three assists and just under five rebounds a game.

For a third year player, that’s pretty good.

Let’s, for a moment, take last year out of the occasion, because the pathetic mess that was the Charlotte Bobcats had an ill affect on the entire roster.

In his first two seasons, Williams shot 36 percent and 42 percent from three, had a 116 and 118 defensive rating and true shooting percentages of 58 each year.

That’s a pretty good offensive player.

The Bobcats have to find room for him in their rotation next season.

It’ll be hard; Even if they shift him to shooting guard at times, he’s still third on the depth chart at that spot behind Gerald Henderson and Ben Gordon.

The good thing for him is his new coach wants his team to shoot threes. William’s has proven he can do that.

If he starts off the season somewhere between 35 and 40 percent from behind the arc, his minutes will certainly increase.

All the attention might be on Charlotte’s two rookies, but, if Reggie Williams gets back to form, he could steal some of that spotlight for himself.
