The Charlotte Bobcats have played a decent amount of basketball since last season ended, and they’ve only lost once since then. They dominated the Vegas Summer League, and they just beat the Washington Wizards handily in both teams’ preseason opener.
Byron Mullens had a huge game, scoring 18 points with eight rebounds on six-of-13 shooting.
Gerald Henderson also had a monster game, with 19 points four rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes.
Another Bobcats with a solid performance was newcomer Ben Gordon who scored 16 points in 25 minutes on just 11 shots.
As for the ‘Cats rookies?
Jeff Taylor didn’t see the court much after two quick fouls, but Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored 12 points on 10 shots with six rebounds and an assist in 27 minutes.
Ramon Sessions had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, Brendan Haywood had four points, three rebounds and a block, and Kemba Walker had seven points, three assists and three steals.
As for the Wizards, who were without John Wall, Emeka Okafor and Nene, rookie Bradley Beal had 18 points on 17 shots, two steals, two assists and three rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
As a team, the Bobcats held the Wizards to 33 percent shooting, held their own in the rebounding department (losing the battle by 2), and shot 45 percent from the field.
