The Charlotte Bobcats will take their shiny 7-5 record to Oklahoma City tonight. Will it come out even more glitzy? Or will the Thunder ding it up a bit?
Well public opinion and history would suggest the Thunder will roll the ‘Cats tonight.
That might happen.
If the Bobcats are to pull the upset, though, a few things are going to have to happen:
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will have to stay out of foul trouble against Kevin Durant. He was in constant foul trouble against the Washington Wizards in Charlotte’s previous game, and eventually fouled out in just 24 minutes. He still put up solid numbers, but he has to do more for the Bobcats to win this game.
Byron Mullens will have to stay hot from behind the arc. We all know now that he’s not going to stop shooting threes despite his sub-30 percent three point percentage. Honestly, if he’s cold from downtown tonight, I don’t see how the Bobcats win this game (unless he doesn’t take many threes. But he will. So. Whatever).
Charlotte is going to have to continue getting to the free-throw line and converting those free shots. The ‘Cats are seventh in the league in free-throw percentage and they getting to the line for more than 25 shots per game. That’s a number they have to at least come close to against the Thunder, because if they aren’t slowing the game down and putting some OKC players in foul trouble, this game could get out of hand fast.
