Could Gerald Henderson be on the move by February 21? According to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Bobcats are interested in dealing Henderson. An NBA general manager said that the Bobcats “were playing their best basketball of the season without Henderson” and that if they don’t look like they can afford him, they will move him.
I posted an article yesterday opining that it’s time for the Bobcats to deal Henderson, who’s played in just nine games this season after being sidelined with a foot injury. The Bobcats are just 1-8 with Henderson in the lineup this season, compared to 6-7 with him out. With Henderson’s return, minutes from Ben Gordon and Ramon Sessions, two big contributors for the team during their hot start, have gone down.
Henderson makes $3.1 million this season and could be combined with the expiring contracts of Gana Diop or Reggie Williams to bring in a some help in the frontcourt for the Bobcats. There are always teams looking for backcourt help at the deadline, and young, cheap rentals like Henderson tend to be valued pretty well approaching the deadline.
