For the second time this season, a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers hurt the Charlotte Bobcats.
Time Warner Cable Arena was electric Friday night as the Bobcats largest lead was pushed to 20 points. But as the trend has been all season, the Bobcats execution in the clutch tripped them up again. The Bobcats will now look to redeem themselves as they head to Philadelphia to face the struggling Sixers.
The Sixers sit fourth in the Atlantic Division with a record of 21-27 and remain without their offseason trade acquisition, Andrew Bynum. With the loss of Andre Iguodala, and Bynum’s injury, the Sixers have struggled finding an identity with their current group. One player who hasn’t struggled though is Jrue Holiday.
Holiday, who’s been selected to his first all-star game, had a 15 assist game in a win against the Bobcats earlier this season. Holiday’s seen a lot more responsibility with the ball this season with Iguodala being in Denver and is averaging just under nine assists a game with 19 points.
Walker and Holiday was an interesting matchup in the first meeting between these two teams and should be nothing less the second time around. Walker is struggling in his last five games, averaging just under 15 points and shooting 41% from the field.
Last night’s game against the Lakers saw the return of Byron Mullens to the Bobcats starting lineup. Mullens responded with a 20 point, 12 rebound night. Mullens was just one of four Bobcats players to have at least 10 rebounds yesterday. Mullens has scored in double digits in each of his three games since returning from an ankle injury. Can he keep it up tonight?
Both the Sixers and Bobcats struggle scoring the ball, so it shouldn’t be much of a shootout in the city of Brotherly Love. The Sixers though are an above-average team defensively, and are going to challenge the Bobcats on every possession. Neither team is particularly big, so a lot of smallball seems likely to occur.
The Bobcats have the worst record in the league at 11-38, but their effort lately is making them overdue for a win. Lets see if they can put it all together tonight.
