Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for just 30 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder coasted to a 116-94 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Durant and Westbrook both played under 30 minutes, as the Thunder collectively picked apart the Bobcats in the Queen City.

Durant led all Thunder scorers with 19 points. Thabo Sefolosha and Derek Fisher chipped in 13, and Serge Ibaka had 12. The Thunder shot over 50% from the field and from the three-point line while outrebounding Charlotte. The Thunder had a lot of fans in the building, as Durant drew the biggest response of the night in front of 18,870.

Gerald Henderson was the Bobcats leading scorer with 21 points, and five rebounds and assists. Ben Gordon had 19 points off the bench and Kemba Walker had 11 points on 3-12 shooting. Charlotte shot 41% from the field and 30% from three. The Bobcats trailed by 14 at halftime and were never able to trim the Thunder’s lead.

The Bobcats have now lost nine games in a row, and eight consecutive games by double digits. It’s become a routine list of problems for the team over the season, with lazy defensive rotations, inability to recognize three-point shooters and an offense that has unpredictable results. Despite Kemba Walker being the best scorer on the floor for Charlotte, he too has joined the inconsistent culture of the Bobcats offense.

Oklahoma City looks prime for the postseason, as head coach Scott Brooks used this game to manage minutes and get everyone time on the court. Oklahoma City has looked as good as advertised and despite trading James Harden in the offseason, they remain a title contender and could get back to the NBA Finals.

For Charlotte, their 13-49 record will travel to the nation’s capital, where they’ll play John Wall and the Washington Wizards. Can the Bobcats avoid a repeat of last weekend’s blowouts and steal a game in D.C.?
