3. The Derrick Rose-less Chicago Bulls
Even without Rose, the Chicago Bulls are still a mid-to-high level playoff team in the Eastern Conference. Why? Because they play an annoying, painful to watch brand of terrifying defense. We don’t even need to get into stat comparisons and “how close are the ‘Cats to being like this team” to see what Charlotte needs to do to become a Derrick Rose-less version of the Chicago Bulls.
They need to play a lot of defense.
They need to hit the glass with regularity.
They don’t need to draft the next Joakim Noah, they just need to find a group of players who can rotate defensively and who care more about keeping the ball out of their rim than dominating offensively. They’ve already got a player like that in Kidd-Gilchrist. They just need a coach who can get the rest of the guys thinking like that… or who’s not afraid to tell management which guys won’t listen and need to go.
