The two teams will face off Wednesday night in Charlotte.
The Magic will be shorthanded for Wednesday’s game. Nikola Vucevic is out and will not travel with the team. Vucevic is an absolute monster on the boards, so his absence will greatly improve the Bobcats chances of winning.
Vucevic being out means Aaron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson will have to pick up the scoring slack for the Magic. Nelson is coming off a 27 point and 12 assist game versus the Heat, and is playing great basketball of late. Afflalo leads the Magic in scoring at 16.5 ppg.
Tobias Harris is an interesting player for the Magic. Harris was acquired in the trade of J.J. Redick, and he is a defensive presence that is still learning how to score in the NBA. However, Harris has that ability to have big nights scoring as shown by his 20 points versus the Heat.
For the Bobcats, Kemba Walker needs to be much more effecient scoring the basketball. Walker scored 20 points against the Heat, but it took him 21 shots to get there. The Bobcats are not a good enough team to have any volume scorers. Secondly, Ben Gordon needs to rebound from his terrible performance versus the Heat. Gordon was 0-7 against the Heat. Lastly, the Bobcats need more out of Byron Mullens in order to compete. Mullens is a starter and the Bobcats need more points out of Mullens on a consistent basis.
The Magic are towards the bottom of the league in scoring and defense, unfortunately the Bobcats are in the bottom three of both scoring and defense. This points to this game being a low-scoring battle if both teams struggle to score, or the game could turn into a shoot out since both teams struggle on the defensive end.
The game begins at 7 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena.
