The Charlotte Bobcats are expected to interview Patrick Ewing to join Steve Clifford’s coaching staff in Charlotte.

Ewing worked as an assistant with Clifford in Houston and Orlando, and as a player when Clifford was an assistant in New York. Ewing is said to have his eye on eventually becoming a head coach. He has a strong friendship with Bobcats Chairman Michael Jordan.

Many fans have been intrigued with Ewing’s work in Houston and Orlando. He’s worked with Yao Ming and Dwight Howard, and received high praise for improving the play of two all-star big men. The hope would be that Ewing could help raise the play of Bismack Biyombo, who’s struggled in his first two seasons.

Golden State Warriors assistant Bob Beyer is another name who’s been rumored to be joining Clifford’s staff.
