The 2013 NBA draft is finally here.
Well, not until later tonight, but you get the point.
As is the case almost every year, the Charlotte Bobcats have a pick inside the top 10 and the ‘Cats are either directly involved in, or tied to several draft day rumors.
Rich Cho put the gargbage about Charlotte trading MKG to draft Otto Porter to bed earlier, but he hasn’t said anything publicly about reports that he’s very high on Cody Zeller right now. Also, the front office is apparently big on bringing Victor Oladipo to the Queen City.
Almost everyone who covers basketball is still convinced Minnesota will part with some combination (or all of) Derrick Williams, the ninth overall pick and the 26th overall pick so they can move up and get Otto Porter. If Porter is available at four, the ‘Cats could make that trade (or draft him and then trade him to the TWolves) and still draft Zeller at nine.
You could arguably connect the Bobcats to any rumor about a team trying to move up in the draft; Oklahoma City, Milwaukee and Utah have all reportedly been looking to get a better pick this year.
Finally, a rumor based on nothing, but the grey matter in my brain: If Charlotte drafts anyone other than Ben McLemore, Anthony Bennett, Cody Zeller or Victor Oladipo, the fabric of time and space may shatter.
