The Charlotte Bobcats are days away from beginning the 10th season in franchise history. The Bobcats got the luck of the draw and will be guinea pigs for three teams who made some noise in the offseason:
Oct. 30th at Houston: Wednesday, the Bobcats will get the league’s first look at the new duo of James Harden and Dwight Howard in Houston. With the addition of Howard, the Houston Rockets are expecting to contend in an unpredictable Western Conference. The Bobcats have a major free acquisition of their own in Al Jefferson, who will have a competitive matchup with Howard in the middle. Roberto Gato pegged this as one of the team’s 10 most anticipated games this season.
Nov. 1st vs. Cleveland: First overall pick Anthony Bennett joins a young nucleus of Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson, and all-star point guard Kyrie Irving. With the additions of Jarrett jack and the oft-injured Andrew Bynum, the Cleveland Cavaliers now have a solid veteran base. One of the league’s elite rebounders in Anderson Varejao will return to the team, after being out of action since January. Mike Brown is back at the helm for his second stint as the Cavaliers coach, which could lead to an improved defense and Cleveland’s first postseason berth since 2010.
Nov. 2nd vs. New Orleans: Following the acquisitions of Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans, the New Orleans Pelicans will feature a guard-heavy offensive attack. Eric Gordon reportedly is in the best shape of his New Orleans career, after playing just 49 games in two seasons with the team. Anthony Davis will look to break out in his second year and lead a young roster to playoff contention in the Western Conference.
