Al Jefferson will miss his fifth consecutive game with a bone bruise in his left ankle, the Charlotte Bobcats announced today.

In addition, the Bobcats could be without head coach Steve Clifford. Clifford was hospitalized Thursday night with an undisclosed illness. He was held overnight and is undergoing additional tests today.

Clifford’s status will be determined later today. If he can’t go, lead assistant Patrick Ewing will be the interim coach.

Afternoon update: Clifford will miss tonight’s game and is expected to be back with the team for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. Clifford received a heart procedure after experiencing chest pain Thursday night.
