Asamoah Gyan accused of having

Asamoah Gyan has been warned by the United Arab Emirates FA for having "unethical hair".

Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan is among those found guilty of breaching the UAEFA Disciplinary Committee rules, with his distinctive mohawk and shaved sides, according to a tweet from Middle Eastern football website Ahdaaf.

Suhail Al-Mansoori of Al Wahda was also ordered to cut his perm.

The ban appears to be related to religion.

Gyan, who is on loan at Dubai-based side Al Ahli from Shanghai SIPG in China, now sports his trademark mohawk style.

The rules are derived from Islamic teachings, some of which ban "Qaza" hairstyles, which include mohawks, because only part of the head is shaved, leaving other parts unshaven.

Individual match referees judge whether players' haircuts are appropriate, with some in United Arab Emirates concerned about children copying the styles.

The Ghanaian - now sporting a mohawk haircut - is one of 40 players to fall foul of the guidelines.

Back in 2012, Waleed Abdullah, a goalkeeper for Al Shabab and the Saudi national team was forced to undergo a pitchside haircut for his "un-Islamic" hairstyle.
