'Big Bang Theory' gets spinoff about Sheldon's early years

The series will feature actor Iain Armitage as Sheldon and Zoe Perry as his mother. (CBS' only single-camera comedy at the moment is "Life in Pieces.") Jon Favreau will direct and serve as an exec producer on the first episode.

After 10 seasons, CBS took some time before renewing the sitcom.

Considering that Armitage would be headlining Young Sheldon, however, the adorable actor has some pretty big shoes to fill. The spinoff will center around a 9-year-old Sheldon in High School as he tries to fit in with the bullies and the angsty teenagers.

Jim and his partner Todd Spiewak are executive producing the series with Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro.

Young Sheldon, the much talked about spin-off series of Big Bang Theory, is officially getting a season run at CBS.

Young Sheldon has been described as a 'Malcolm in the Middle with a young Sheldon'.

Other characters from the series are not confirmed to appear for "Young Sheldon".

Is "Young Sheldon" a good idea?

MUST SEE: The Big Bang Theory Baby Is Here - Find out Her Name! How the young prodigy would interact with his older classmates and teachers would most likely be among the most prominent points of humor in the upcoming comedy TV series.

The show, created by Big Bang authors Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, is set during the childhood of Parsons' character on the original series. "That will be the show probably on right after Big-Bang". However, this show will have a different format from what The Big Bang Theory fans are used to, and a former Marvel director will be behind the camera for it. There are only a few more episodes left in the season 10 and there is great suspense which is yet to revealed. It will air during the 2017-2018 broadcast season, but the exact number of shows has yet to be finalised.
