Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso react to 'special' Real Madrid draw

Thai-owned Leicester City, struggling in the English Premier League but shining in Europe, will face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals, it was announced on Friday.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid is a mouthwatering tie without any added extras, but this one will be about more than just two of the best sides going head to head.

Real Madrid drew Bayern Munich in the pick of the quarter-final ties today, meaning Ancelotti will go up against his former club.

"I don't know about that [Leicester being the weakest team left], as in their last tie and in the groups they showed they are a team who must be taken into account".

The first legs of the quarter-finals will be played on April 11 and 12, and the second legs played on April 18 and 19.

The final is scheduled for May 24 in Stockholm, Sweden - the home country of United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has never won a UEFA knockout competition. "We are very confident and want to win the Champions League this season", said the Italian, who also won the European title twice with AC Milan.

"Atletico Madrid are a very good team with some fantastic individuals with experience in the competition, but we'll be ready to give everything to progress". For sure it will be a very hard tie.

A clash with former manager Carlo Ancelotti and one of the most talented sides in the competition was hardly the reward they had in mind after convincingly knocking out Napoli 5-2 on aggregate.

"We will play away and we know that we have to score there".

Diego Simeone's team will attempt to finally nab its first title after having lost three finals in the past, two of them against its arch-rival from Madrid.

Ancelotti's time in Madrid was brought to an abrupt end when he was sacked after failing to land any of La Liga, Champions League or the Copa del Rey in his second season as Barcelona won the treble. "I believe that we've reached Barcelona's level this season". The two legs of Europa League quarter-finals will be held on April 13 and 20.
