Emiliano Grillo tosses club in water while making quadruple bogey

Charley Hoffman overtook Emiliano Grillo and Matt Fitzpatrick to claim a one-shot lead after the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. "I see him, I feel him, you hear about him".

Something is missing for Brandt Snedeker this week at Bay Hill in Orlando.

Fowler, the world number nine, picked up four more strokes - while also saving his par from the water at 11, pants rolled up to the knees - and then landing an Eagle put on the par-five 16th.

His tournament history dates to 2002, when he was 14 and starting to find his way as a golfer, and Palmer allowed for his grandson to play as a non-competing marker. Players who get a sponsor exemption don't typically play with the top names, but this is a different week, a special occasion.

He is the face of this tournament, and he is quite aware of that.

"We have had so much going on and so many great things happening", he said. On the course, Club Ketel One will feature Arnold Palmer memorabilia, highlighting cherished moments throughout Mr. Palmer's life and precious photos of the Nolet family's friendship with "the King". He led a march of "Arnie's Army" on Monday.

And then he set out to play golf.

There already was one difference.

He had a 74, same as Rory McIlroy.

As they say, it's not how you start, but how you finish.

"I think my grandfather's legacy speaks for itself".

Multicolored umbrellas - the famous Palmer logo - were everywhere at Bay Hill. Except for the endless comments of encouragement from the gallery.

During his pro-am Wednesday, a woman asking for an autograph wore a shirt showing a photo that Day recognized immediately: Palmer in a golf cart clasping hands with Day, with his wife and two young children.

"I just stayed patient and got a few to roll in", said Fowler, who had started the day some 12 shots off the lead. Just to see it sitting there empty, yeah, that's hard. "I'm driving it in play, but any time I get the putter going I can play well". He wishes he had hit 5-iron on the 18th. His splash-out hit the pin and he was able to save par.

Saunders is his own player, and always has been.

He was then subsequently disqualified, inadvertently signing for a par on his last hole when he actually took bogey although it would have made no difference.
