Exit Polls 2017: BJP leaders confident of winning

For the anti-BJP forces, the fact that many polls are predicting a hung assembly in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Goa will come as a heartening sign.

Although exit polls predicted different results for the state, an average shows that Congress led by the chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh is likely to win the state and stop the BJP surge in the state.

It would be now interesting to see, which party will form the government when the Election Commission will announce the result on March 11. The SP-Congress alliance is projected to win 120 seats, while the BSP is expected to win 90 seats. Ruling party in Goa, BJP has been expecting to regain its seat in the state, while the first-time contender, AAP is trying to gain momentum. While party' senior leader Azam Khan said that it will be wrong to blame the alliance's loss entirely on Akhilesh, in case the exit poll results prove to be true, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav himself sounded a little jittery.

The winning spree of the BJP seems to be continuing in Goa where as per the exit polls, the party, despite internal differences, is slated to retain power.

The India TV-CVoter poll findings said both the BJP and Congress were neck and neck - 29-35 seats - but short of majority in the 70-member house. The Congress has contested all the seats. It is clear than even pollsters have been unable to give clearer predictions, especially the Axis poll, which gives BJP 18 to 22 seats and the Congress 9 to 13 seats. Congress has fielded the maximum number of contenders this time in the state.

The India News-MRC survey gave seven seats to the Akali Dal-BJP combine and put the Congress and the AAP neck and neck at 55 seats each.

Others may get 1-3 each in Kumaun and Garhwal and 0-3 seats in the plains.

This is just an exit poll, and as with all exit polls, the figures could be wrong.

Counting of votes for 117 Punjab assembly seats - voting for which was held on February 4 - will be taken up on March 11.

Congress has been in power in Manipur for three terms now but the economic blockade and the resultant violence may have dented its chances a bit.

As far as the vote share is concerned, once again the Congress has the biggest share at 36 per cent, while AAP has a decent 33.5 per cent, making it a worthy political adversary for the Congress.
