ManU concerned about Pogba's injury during win over Rostov

ManU concerned about Pogba's injury during win over Rostov

Manchester United are not ready yet to become the dominant force in English football they were during the trophy-laden years of the Alex Ferguson era, manager Jose Mourinho has said.

United travel to Middlesbrough on Sunday less than 72 hours after their 1-0 victory over Rostov on Thursday night which confirmed their qualification for the last eight.

United is in sixth place in the Premier League with 49 points, six points behind fourth-place Liverpool and the coveted Champions League places. He is another who has been playing in every game.

In a stop-start Premier League campaign Manchester United head to the Riverside on Sunday to face Middlesbrough in what is the second of just two league fixtures in a seven-week period between mid-February and the beginning of April. That number would rise to 17 games if they reach the Europa League final in Stockholm on May 24, meaning the April 1 game against West Brom after the global break would kick off a run of 16 games in 54 days - or, in other words, playing once every 3.38 days.

The Spain global has been a key player for the Red Devils this campaign, despite many wondering whether he had a future at Old Trafford when Jose Mourinho took charge of the club last summer.

"When I think about the last time I played a whole 90 minutes before coming here, it was a year ago".

"We should be the last team to play at the weekend".

"But I think you can do that and just have a little finger, a little touch".

Man United's next match is away at managerless Middlesbrough on Sunday, a game which Mourinho has claimed that his side will "probably lose".

Marcos Rojo is chief among those who could be due a rest after Mourinho stated the Portuguese had hit a physical wall late in the game against Rostov following the heavy recent workload.

"But we've got more than enough to cope with that. Or, if they're happy that we have one English club in the Champions League and one in the Europa League. wow". We played Villarreal and then Swansea at 12.

Thursday's win set up a two-legged Europa League quarter-final tie against Anderlecht next month, but also added to the fixture congestion that has left Mourinho deeply unhappy. He was feeling something in the first half and in the second half he immediately felt he couldn't carry on.
