Planes collide over Canada shopping mall, kills one

The other, a 23-year-old man, was seriously injured.

Nheil Martinez, who works inside the shopping centre, told the Canadian Press he saw the shadow of a plane and heard its motor before hearing a loud boom.

A security perimeter has been set up near the shopping center.

Police said the cause of the crash is unknown but it appears to be accidental.

He saw pieces of the plane fall out of sky.

"One of the planes crashed on the roof of one of the stores and the other one on the asphalt of the parking lot", said Nancy Colagiacomo, a spokeswoman for the police force that serves Montreal's south shore.

"I saw them hit and a wing came off one of the planes, which started to spiral, and the other plane crashed", Carol Pelchat told CBC News on Friday.

"I saw the plane spinning as it fell", he said.

The area was closed off after initial reports of a fuel leak.

He said all that was left of the aircraft was shredded metal.

Both aircrafts were owned by Cargair, a Saint-Hubert flight school, located about 7 kilometres from the site of the accident.

"Papa November Papa make sure you maintain 1,600 feet, traffic 10 o'clock, one mile, a Cessna eastbound, 1,100 feet", the tower is heard saying.

Cargair, which describes itself as Canada's largest private pilot school, instructs about 150 pilots every year for airlines in China, where training facilities can't keep up with demand, Adams said. The company later issued a statement saying they were cooperating with the investigators.
