Tiger Woods on if he'll play the Masters

Tiger Woods on if he'll play the Masters

Tiger Woods is still holding onto the hope that he could be back from injury in time to play in the Masters at the start of next month.

Tiger Woods reacts on the 11th hole during the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, disputed a Golf Digest report that the 14-time major victor is "doubtful" for the Masters. "I'm trying every day to get back and play", Woods told Strahan Monday when asked about the Masters.

The 14-time Major victor appeared in a suit on breakfast TV to promote a new book to mark the 20 anniversary of his spectacular Masters victory in 1997.

"I love that event, it has meant so much to me in my life". It's the first major I ever played back in '95.

Woods said while his spirit is willing, his body remains an issue when it comes to being able to train well enough to prepare for the rigors of four rounds at a major event, something he has done only twice since the 2013 PGA Championship.

It would be great to see Woods fit again, but he faces a struggle to make the field for Augusta.

"I still got to drive home after this", said Bowers, who was sporting a Pirates baseball cap, SC sweatshirt, jeans and a beard that would make "Duck Dynasty" cast members jealous. "I know that the mind is sharp".

"My priorities have changed a lot", Woods said.

The outlook for Woods playing in the Masters, however, is less clear. "My kids now dominate my life and I think that's a good thing".

Woods has won the Masters on four previous occasions, the last of which came when he claimed a three-stroke success in 2005. We're not in a situation to even talk about playing in the Masters now.

Steinberg added: "He's gotten treatments and is progressing and hoping he can do it". Getting the prep time. "I couldn't give you a fair assessment, but to say it's doubtful is an absolutely inaccurate statement".
