The Charlotte Bobcats (7-52) put a loeful 16 game losing streak on the line tonight when they host the New Orleans Hornets (18-42), who just recently was bought out by a new owner. It is a high octane matchup against the owners of the two worst records in each conference respectively. Within this current 16 game skid, is a franchise record nine game home losing streak.

The Bobcats are looking to sweep the season series for the first time, but they’ve dropped the last two home matchups with the Hornets including an 88-81 defeat Jan. 15, 2011. It is sure to be a high scoring, entertaining game to say the least.

The Boston Celtics have been know the past couple of years because of their “Big Three.” But the Celtic team that took the court tonight in Charlotte, lacked that trio. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce were given the night off to rest. That didn’t seem to spark the Bobcats (7-52), as they fell 94-82.

There seemed to be more electricity in the gym the night prior, for the Jordan Brand Classic game, an All-Star game featuring some of the best high school basketball players. The kids put on more of a show then the hometown Bobcats did.

Trailing by 11 after one, however, Charlotte made a run. They outscored Boston 26-18, and pulled within three, 52-49 going into halftime. But as the teams started the second half, Boston surged in the second half, thanks to the play of point guard Rajon Rondo. Even when the Big Three plays, Rondo is an all-star caliber player that can lead any team in the stat column. Tonight, he recored a double-double (20 points, 16 assists), and was the team leader in the absence of their trio.

The loss was the Bobcats’ 16th straight, tying a dubious franchise record set earlier this season. If they lose the final seven games this season, they will finish with the worst single-season winning percentage in NBA history.

Gerald Henderson paced Charlotte with 22 points.

The Bobcats made it tight in the fourth quarter, edging the deficit to four, but Avery Bradley knocked down a three-pointer from the corner. That would be the closest the Bobats would get, as they never seemed to find a rhythm offensively.
