A holiday break may be just what the Charlotte Bobcats need to turn things around. For Andre Iguodala, a game against the Bobcats was just what he needed to end his December slump.

Iguodala came close to a triple-double Saturday, as he helped lead the Nuggets to a route of the Bobcats. Entering tonight’s game, Iguodala was averaging 10.6ppg on 39%fg in December. He finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals in just 29 minutes.

Seven Nuggets players reached double digits in scoring, led by 16 from Kosta Koufos. Danilo Gallinari was the Nuggets player to watch, and finished with 12 points, on 3-6 from three in 22 minutes.

The Nuggets shot over 50% from the field, with 36 assists on 47 made field goals. The Nuggets biggest advantage came in the paint, where they scored 78 points. They lead the league in points in the paint at 54.7 a game, and had no trouble pushing the ball and getting to the rim against the Bobcats struggling defense.

Ramon Sessions was the Bobcats player to watch tonight, leading the team in scoring with 23 points off the bench. Sessions is averaging 15ppg on 50%fg in his last five games, and seemingly has got out of his December funk.

Byron Mullens, who left the game with ankle injury, added 16 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. X-rays on Mullens are negative, but was seen on the crutches with his ankle heavily wrapped.

Kemba Walker struggled tonight, going 4-15 with eight points and four assists. Rookie Jeffery Taylor got the start tonight for Gerald Henderson who sat with a right shin contusion. Taylor had six points and eight rebounds in 24 minutes on 2-10fg. Ben Gordon sat his second straight game with soreness in his knee.

Hakim Warrick got his second straight game of meaningful minutes with the Bobcats. Warrick finished with seven points, two rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes of action. Warrick is starting to once again show that he’s a serviceable big off the bench.

Even with Warrick though, the Bobcats are still struggling finding consistent production from their frontcourt. After a double-double against the Warriors, Bismack Biyombo had just three points and two rebounds tonight.

In case you’re wondering, the Bobcats longest losing streak last season was 23 games. The Bobcats have already matched their win total from last season, but hopefully they don’t match their losing streak as well. The next eight games for the team will be Miami, @Brooklyn, New Orleans, @Chicago, Cleveland, @Detroit, Utah, and @Toronto.

There’s a few winnable games in that stretch with New Orleans, who’s on an 11-game losing streak, Cleveland, who’ve lost 11 of their last 13 and Detroit. But the games like Miami, Brooklyn, Chicago, Utah, and the suddenly-hot Toronto Raptors are going to be tough.

The day after Christmas, the Bobcats will be home, and they’ll have to deal with the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat. The Heat always draw packed crowds on the road in Charlotte, so the game could be pretty fun live if the Bobcats are somehow able to make it a game.

December has not been a month to remember for the Charlotte Bobcats (7-19) in 2012.

Despite the all-star play of Kemba Walker, the Bobcats are winless in 14 games and allowing a league high 110.4ppg. It’s only right that the Bobcats face the Denver Nuggets (14-13), who are 7-1 at home this season and scoring 104.7ppg this month.

The Nuggets dynamic scoring attack is led by Danilo Gallinari’s 15.7ppg. While Gallinari is the team’s leading scorer, the Nuggets, like the Phoenix Suns, have multiple scorers capable of having big nights. The Nuggets have six players who average double digits in scoring and are an unpredictable team to deal with.

The Bobcats this season have struggled against teams with multiple scorers, who push the ball, and throw different looks at defenses with their offensive talent. The Nuggets are also a strong rebounding team, ranking first in offensive and total rebounding totals.

The Bobcats don’t share the Nuggets offensive success, but they are sharing their defensive struggles.

The Nuggets rank 25th in opp. scoring, and 27th in opp. three-point %. The Bobcats played another struggling defensive team in the Suns earlier this week, and it didn’t seem to be an advantage for the team.

The backcourt of the Bobcats could be a bit shorthanded tomorrow. Gerald Henderson is questionable with a right shin contusion, and Ben Gordon is battling soreness in his knee. This would give more minutes to Ramon Sessions, Reggie Williams and Jeffrey Taylor.

Players to watch:

Danilo Gallinari, Nuggets: Gallinari got off to a slow start this season, but he’s finally starting to play well again this month. He’s averaging just under 16ppg and shooting 36% from three. Gallinari is an excellent three-point shooter, and with the way the Bobcats have been defending the three this season, this could be the game where he can solidify a return to his big-time shooting form. The Nuggets three-point shooting overall has been down this year, but Gallinari is always capable of going on big streaks. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will get the task of guarding him, so hopefully they can contain him.

Ramon Sessions, Bobcats: Sessions is finally starting to get back to his November production. He’s shooting 49% from the field and averaging 14ppg off the bench. Sessions has been a huge luxury to have off the bench this season. The Nuggets are a deep team, and if Gerald Henderson and Ben Gordon can’t go tomorrow, the Bobcats are going to need another good night from Sessions to have a chance.
