Another day another set of NBA Trade Rumors.

Now, the rumor mill is swirling around J.J. Redick.

He’s only on the books for the rest of this season, so you might think the Charlotte Bobcats wouldn’t be interested in him.

If they could figure out a way to throw Gerald Henderson in the deal, though, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make a move on Redick.

Henderson is making about half as much as Redick, and that means, if Charlotte can somehow make that deal, they’ll have about $3 million more coming off the books this summer than if they just keep Henderson.

But that deal on its face doesn’t make much sense for Orlando, and a contending team would probably offer more for a half-year guy like Redick if that team was looking to bolster its bench heading into the playoffs.

The Magic don’t have many other assets they’d be willing to give up, and the Bobcats are pretty much in the same situation.

So, basically, you’ve read this far to find out that a Redick deal is unlikely.

BUT, just because the Bobcats probably won’t be able to land him, it doesn’t mean they can’t make a similar deal in the interest of shaving more salary off the books this summer.

Rudy Gay is off the block, and DeMarcus Cousins probably won’t get traded with the Kings hanging in location limbo. The ‘Cats probably won’t be able to make a big move this year.

But a move like trading Hendo for Redick could still help the team in the long run, and if Rich Cho has the chance to make a move like that, he’ll probably pull the trigger.
