“It’s about damn time.” That’s what LeBron James said after winning his first title Thursday night.

Well, now it’s about damn time to take a look at how the web reacted to it.

For a look at how the Finals were won, check out this blog from Time Magazine:

There’s real joy in James’ game. The Heat finished with 14 three-point shots on Thursday, tying a Finals record, and Miami’s downtown barrage all starts with LeBron. He draws the attention, then throws perfect pitches to his open teammates. Jordan and Kobe Bryant are cold-blooded scorers: they passed when they had to.

For a look at how the Thunder felt after the Finals were lost, check out USA Today:

“If you’re going to feel sorry for yourself, you might as well not come to the game tonight,” Thunder coach Scott Brooks said of the Western Conference champions after his team’s morning shoot-around. “There’s no reason to hide from this moment.”

The New York sports media couldn’t keep the Knicks out of the conversation, even though the Heat knocked them out a month ago (via the New York Daily News):

The Knicks aren’t going to beat the Heat the way the Knicks of the 1990s couldn’t beat Michael Jordan… That is the fact of the NBA season that just ended as much as the fact of what James and Wade and Bosh and their supporting cast did to Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the beatdown they gave them in Game 5.

And then there was twitter.

Via Dan Gilbert (Cavs owner, James hater):

Great NBA season. Enjoyedplayoffs. Congratulations to Miami & OKC for an exciting Finals. Back to work on next weeks promising Cavs draft.

— Dan Gilbert (@cavsdan) June 22, 2012

Notice anything missing from that tweet?

The season that almost wasn’t is now over, but with the draft less than a week away keep you Internet dial tuned into RobertoGato.com for all the prospect, free agent, and trade news you can handle.

With game five of the NBA Finals tipping off as I type, here are some predictions about LeBron James, Kevin Durant and the finals overall.

1. James and Durant will combine for 85 points tonight.

2. That will happen because the game will go into double overtime.

3. Someone not named James or Durant will hit the game winning shot in the second overtime.

4. That someone will play for the Miami Heat and it will give LeBron’s haters all the ammunition they need for another season of Internet beat-downs and crazy talk about the best player in the world not being clutch.

5. LeBron James won’t care and the Heat will win the finals again next year.

6. The Thunder Won’t make the finals next year.

I’m most confident about the last two predictions coming true, but 1-4 all have a 50/50 chance to happen (in my expert, mathemetician’s opinion).

Do you think I’m crazy? Wanna hate on my Nostradamus impression? Have at it in the comments section.

The Miami Heat are the new favorite to win the NBA finals after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in game three at home.

At least that’s what you’d think if you drove to work listening to ESPN radio this morning.

The Human Bowtie, Bruce Bowen, went on Mike and Mike in the morning to give his updated predictions for the finals, and said the Heat would close out the Thunder in five games.

Talk about taking overreacting to the next level. After game one, almost everyone on that network was ready to declare the Thunder champions for the next five years.

Still, OKC is in a spot of bother after losing two straight games and giving away home court advantage.

If the Thunder can steal one game in Miami, they’d still go back to Oklahoma needing two straight wins for a championship.

Before they can think about that, though, Kevin Durant and co. need to realize a few things:

1. The Thunder are not going to win another game if Westbrook continues to shoot 44 percent from the field. I don’t care if he doesn’t want to change his game; If he wants to win a championship, he will change it. Oh, and four assists isn’t going to get the job done either.

2. Kevin Durant needs to get to the line more than four times. Take a page out of LeBron’s book and attack him. Make him play defense.

3. James Harden has to be James Harden. 2-10 is not going to get it done.

4. THE MIAMI HEAT CANNOT SHOOT JUMPERS! Run a zone for a fifth of the game! Over-rotate on LeBron, Wade, and Bosh to cut off their path if you have too! Make Miami’s collection of misfit toys beat you in the lane and force its big three to settle for jumpers! It’s nothing short of mind-boggling to me that almost every team Miami plays goes man for the full 48 minutes.

We’ll see if Oklahoma City can even things up on Tuesday, but if they don’t recognize those things I mentioned above, Bruce Bowen might not be too far off.

Game one of the NBA Finals had a little bit of everything. Big leads, big runs to cut those leads and big performances from the two best players in the game.

LeBron James dropped 30 and nine, while Kevin Durant poured in 36 and eight.

Russell Westbrook outplayed Dwayne Wade, but Chris Bosh (barely) outplayed James Harden.

If you took a look at the box score from some of the other players, though, you’d think the game would’ve swung the Heat’s way.

Shane Battier scored 17 points. Mario Chalmers had 12 points and six assists.

Kendrick Perkins only had four points and seven rebounds. James Harden only had five points and three assists.

But, Durant and Westbrook were just too good.

Serge Ibaka was Bosh’s equal.

After the second half started, Miami just couldn’t hang with the Thunder.

Colin Cowherd called it. As much as I hate to admit it, that pompous, elitist (or traditionalist as he calls himself) front-runner called it. “105-95 Thunder” he said (one point off. Nostradamus wasn’t exactly right all the time). “Miami would be worn out” he predicted.

Well he was right.

Only time will tell if his final prediction was right. “Game one won’t look like the rest of the series.”

In my opinion, game one will, for the most part, look like the rest of the series.

The Thunder are the team that will win “not one, not two…”

The Thunder are ready for this.

Last night proved it.
