The Charlotte Bobcats hosted their third round of pre-draft workouts Thursday morning and the big name in town was Harrison Barnes.

It was the first Charlotte Bobcats workout that new coach Mike Dunlap could attend, and he didn’t wait long to get his hands dirty:

Head Coach #MikeDunlap just stepped in and effortlessly takes over #CatsDraftworkout. Intensity picked up #nba

— Charlotte Bobcats (@bobcats) June 21, 2012

The list of ‘Cats higher-ups at the workout was long; Dunlap, Michael Jordan, Rod Higgins, Rick Cho and Curtis Polk all had their eyes on Barnes.

And he didn’t let them down:

Impressive work from @HBarnes in #CatsDraft dunk drill. 15 dunks in 1 minute – all with authority #nba

Just watched @HBarnes knock down over 80% of his midrange jumpers in this #CatsDraft shooting drill #nba

— Charlotte Bobcats (@bobcats) June 21, 2012

No one else worth mentioning participated in the Charlotte Bobcats workouts Thursday, But Andre Drummond and Thomas Robinson will be in the Queen City on Friday to show off their skills.

If the Bobcats end up falling in love with Barnes, their best possible move would be to trade the second pick to Cleveland for the fourth and 24th pick.

Barnes will be available at four, and there are plenty of options at #24, like picking up an NBA ready guy (Jeff Taylor, Royce White) or trading it for future picks.

Florida’s 6’3″ shooting guard Bradley Beal apparently had a solid day:

Here in 3pt drill #BradleyBeal has found his stroke – just hit 8 of 9 treys. #CatsDraft #nba

Kidd-Gilchrsit also impressed whoever is behind the Bobcats twitter handle:

I know @MikeGillie14 is known for some tenacious d but just retained the ball on 4straight possessions w/ solid offensive moves #CatsDraft

I still think, given Rick Cho’s contention that Charlotte is taking two steps back to take one forward, that Kidd-Gilchrist has to be the pick here (if the Bobcats stay at #2). He’s a great defender, a great athlete, and he can get better offensively.

Both guys have gone through a few workouts already, and by the end of this one you could tell the process was wearing on them:

Today’s #CatsDraft workout wraps up with @MikeGillie14 and @RealDealBeal23 #nba twitter.com/bobcats/status…

Bobcats beat writer Rick Bonnell tweeted the list earlier:

It’ll be interesting to see how well Acy fairs. He scored 12 points and grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game last year on a loaded Baylor squad. He also finished the year with a blistering 64 percent true shooting percentage.

I like his defensive prowess, as well; During his three years with the Bears, he never finished a single season with a defensive rating higher than 98.9

I still like Kevin Jones or Draymond Green as Charlotte’s second round pick. Both players are being severely undervalued and are ready to play NBA ball right now.

The Charlotte Bobcats hosted five players for pre-draft workouts Friday morning.

The group of big men included Virginia’s Mike Scott, Gonzaga’s Robert Sacre, Louisiana State’s Justin Hamilton, Southern Mississippi’s Maurice Bolden, Detroit’s Eli Holman and Belmont Abbey’s Kyle Phillips.

GM Rick Cho and President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins attended the workout, along with team scouts.

Sacre had the sound bite of the day during his post-workout interviews. When a reporter with the Bobcats asked what he knew about the organization he laughed and said, “Well you guys drafted Adam Morrison from Gonzaga so that’s good .”

Out of all the guys that were there, Scott probably is the only one that has a shot to get picked up by the ‘Cats.

The great series of tubes (Internet) has him going anywhere from very early to somewhat late in the second round of mock drafts. Sacre is projected to go in the middle of the second round.

Still, I think the mostly likely choice for Charlotte and their second round pick is either Draymond Green from Michigan State or Kevin Jones from West Virginia. Both are projected to be available when the Bobcats pick.
